Introducing our sixth and final recipient of a For Care Partner grant for 2023 : Donna Lowe

Donna Lowe has been a CNA in profession, cared for her mother when she needed her and now is by her husband Clyde’s side since his strokes happened. I was excited to actually meet Donna in person, they are local to our area, and we met for coffee. She was thrilled and so appreciative that as a care partner someone was thinking of her and supporting her.

Donna’s personal words on their story:

“Clyde and I married in  November 1984. I have two daughters that he took under his wing to be the dad he didn't have to be. I gained a step son and step daughter. Together we formed a cozy family and home. Clyde worked at Volunteer Electric for 35 years before a stroke in 2004 forced him to retire due to his health. With this stroke he had 17 stints put in. Clyde would go on to have two more strokes, six heart attacks, three more stints, a defibrillator, a pacemaker, and a diagnosis of COPD. His last stroke was in June 2023 and he had a first ever seizure with this one. We were told he would not live through the night and to be considering to take him off life support in the next few days. With a lot of prayers and talks with Jesus he pulled through and come home less than a week later.God is good all the time! At home he received therapy with Teresa Adams, who is amazing, through Quality home health. Very thankful to the care they showed him. I'm very blessed the Lord has given me the strength, with my disabilities, to be his caregiver, and very thankful he is still here with us. Clyde is very prideful and often sits and wishes he was the strong provider he used to be. It has been a journey but again we are very blessed to still have him with us. We are thankful and blessed for this grant to help give us some well needed relief and room to breathe a bit. Again I will say God is good all the time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Be blessed.”
